Ride on a tandem

Each summer I spend a few days in the camping Almata with my family and my friends. When school finishes we go there for a week. The fact is that I spent most of time with my friends: Paula, Ona, Berta and Irene. We have a tent just for us so we can do what we want. All day we stay in the swimming pool or in the beach and at night we go out but sometimes we have to take care our litter sisters and brothers while our parents are cooking or buying food in the supermarket.

Last year I fulfilled one of my wishes: ride on a tandem. It seems easy but it’s a bit difficult because you have to be coordinated with your partner.  It was so funny because at first of all we didn’t have any idea how to rides it, but at the end we managed it.

Skii

I have done some sports like tennis, volleyball and rowing. I started playing volleyball when I was six years old but I left it to play tennis. I really liked tennis but after more than five years playing this sport I got bored so I wanted to play a new one. Then with my friends decided to start rowing.  It wasn’t very popular but we wanted to try it. We have been doing rowing for two years but because we haven’t got a trainer we can’t continue for next season.

Although my favorite sport isn’t any of those. My favorite sport is skiing, I love it. My father taught me when I was six and I really enjoy skiing. The only thing that I don’t like about skiing is that you have to get up very early, but when I arrive at the slopes it is worth it.

Dear Mrs Pintó,

As you know, I am a student from this high school and I am writing to you to tell what I really think about our high school.

On the one hand, the appearance of the building it isn’t so much pretty and I think the high school should be decorated to look better, warmer. Also, in my opinion, the teachers don’t make the most of the digital blackboards because most of them don’t use them, so we don’t need one IWB for each class. As well we don’t take advantage of the charming room and of the dining room, I think these spaces should be used better.

On the other hand, we are too many people in the classes so sometimes it is really difficult to pay attention all the time. Another thing are the outings, the students of batxillerat need them because we have to decide what we are going to study, so we need to visit the universities to get ideas.

Although I have to say that I really like go to this high school because I feel comfortable there and if I ever had have the opportunity to change from this high school, I wouldn’t do it.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

 Yours sincerely.

Should the experiments on human life have limits?

Nowadays there are lots of scientists interested in experimenting on the human life. They want to discover new things to improve our lives and be recognized by their experiments. But it is important that they have to remember the limits because they can’t create something that later could be dangerous for people.

On the one hand, all the experiments for medicine are good because these in the future can cure the illness and help a lot of people who in those moments really need it.

On the other hand, the experiments of cloning or creating new live aren’t so certain because you never know if the experiment comes up well or not and if can be dangerous for society.

All in all, I thing the experiments on human life are interesting but they are awful too so they need to be limited.

News

Would you put your baby or toddler outside in the freezing cold for their lunchtime nap? Most Nordic parents wouldn't give it a second thought. For them it's part of their daily routine.

In Stockholm on winter, the temperature is -20C and is still common to see children left outside by their parents for a sleep in the pram.

Their mothers say that it's good for their babies to be in the fresh air as soon as possible, especially in the winter when there are lots of germs going around is when the kids seem healthier.

This isn’t a recent action, in Stockholm is like a tradition, the children have been sleeping outside since they were born.

Many babies sleep better outdoors in the fresh air than in their bedroom. Sleeping outdoors is not dangerous for a baby. One may gradually start going outdoors when the baby is two weeks old.

Give horsemeat-tainted food to poor - German minister

Germany's development minister has suggested food tainted with horsemeat should be distributed to the poor.

A member of the governing CDU party said that we can't just throw away good food, he agreed to consume the horsemeat but the opposition didn’t agree with the idea.

Meanwhile, traces of horse DNA have been found in six tones of minced beef and 2,400 packs of lasagne bolognese seized from a company in Italy. These products were packed by Italian group called Primia.

The health ministry said Primia had used meat from another company in Brescia and originally supplied by two other companies, also based there.

It is the first positive test in Italy since the scandal erupted last month.

An investigation has been launched into the safety of a ski-lift after a teenage girl died when she fell during a school trip to Italy.

Poonam Bhattal was a pupil at Guru Nanak Sikh Academy in Hayes in west London.

The director of the ski school has said the safety bar on the lift was down when the girl fell.

Before she fell down she grabbed the safety bar and the man in charge of ski-lift saw this and he stopped the lift, but it was too late.

Speaking on BBC Radio Berkshire, Marco Steffanini said: "Now there is an investigation in progress to understand how she can fall down with the safety bar closed."

Oral Presentation

Lidia, Xantal and I talked to you about the some customs and traditions in Britain.

Presentation: In my opinion we made a good presentation. It was structured and it wasn’t too complicated so all the audience could follow without any problem. Like some classmates we used the Prezzi to do our presentation. We chose this program because we think that it’s very clear and pretty.

Structure: The structure of our presentation as I said before it was clear and you can follow all the different parts of our project.

Body language and eye contact: as the last project, I think that I have to improve my body language because maybe the others can understand me better.

Content: in my opinion the content was good and we explained you new information about some customs and traditions.

Language: We didn’t use very difficult words but as we were nervous we did some errors which we realized when we had finished our presentation.

Pronuntation: I have to improve my pronuntation and speak without fear.

Memories never die

When I was a child I wished to be an adult, I wanted a car, a big house with many pets, eat what I wanted, see my favorite TV programs all day, more responsibility, my own numerous family, money to buy things, it didn't matter which ones.

But I didn't see that when you are a child, you don't have any worries, maybe you are worried if Santa doesn't bring you gifts because last week you didn't eat all the food, but this it is all.

As time passed, you have more responsibilities, your friends change, you too and you are able to see that the live is more complicated than you first thought. Then your wishes change.

Now I wish to be a child again because my childhood was perfect although then I didn’t realized it.  However, I’m growing up and I have to accept what I have and be happy.
