Cadaqués

For me Cadaqués is the most beautiful place in l'Alt Emporà. It is a small village surrounded by mountains and most of its houses are white with colored shutters, it looks so cute.

I love the light on the white houses, the blue sea, the beaches, the narrow streets, all. 

Cadaqués is a special place in art history because some artists spent time here like Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró,  and Maurice Boitel but the most important is Salvador Dalí who had a house there. Nowadays his house is a museum.

 I have been in Cadaqués a lot of times but just for lunches or dinners, nothing special. But this summer with a friend of mine I passed some days there and we had a really good time.  We spent all morning in different little coves, after in the afternoon we strolled along the village and finally at night we went out for a while. I was surprised because I thought that in Cadaqués wouldn’t be many people in the village at night, but I was wrong. The beaches were crowded and at night there was a nice atmosphere.

Best job

This year the Olympics were in London and a lot of companies associated their products with the Olympics like Nike, Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, McDonalds...

Wieden and Kennedy Portland created for me the most memorable Olympics 2012 ad was ‘Best job' by Procter & Gamble. This video follows four child athletes on their path to the London Olympic Games with the support and the care of their mothers every step of the way.

I don’t know why but I’m move every time that I see this spot. I imagine all the effort,  the dedication that athletes  and their families go through and think of the bravery and optimism which all have to endure.  I don’t think that everybody is able to be an athlete so congratulations for the people who were or are athletes and I encourage keep training to reach success the future ones to.

Cath Kidston

Cath Kidston, is a British fashion designer and businesswoman.

She is very popular in England and everybody use her products. She is a particularly well known for her nostalgic floral patterns. It is the typically English shop where you feel like home. When you enter in the store you can hear a bell, a very soft music and always smells very good. I love her cups, bags, boots, cases and creams. I think it is perfect to buy some gifts because there are a lot of things really cute. If you travel to England I recommend you to see one of their shops and buy some gifts.

Dreams

Dreaming is one of the most mysterious and interesting experiences in our lives. But what we know about dreams?

Dreams can have different emotions on you, such as frightening, exciting, magical, melancholic or adventurous but the most common emotion experienced in dreams is anxiety and the negative emotions are more common than positive ones.

Dreams can last for a few seconds, or as long as twenty minutes. You can have different dreams in only one night, but most of them when you get up you can't remember what you dreamed. I rarely remember my dreams, and if I can remember them, they are nightmares.

Someone told me that if you drink water before going to sleep, the next day you can remember most of your dreams. I will try it.

See you soon, then

I have decided to write a story which it teaches us that true love can overcome everything. I’m going to talk about Dear John.

This film follows the life of a soldier, John. He falls in love with Savannah during his holidays but after two weeks he has to return in the army and they decide to exchange letters to each other after he is deployed to the war. Because of the long time without see each other, Savannah send him the last letter because she has become engaged to someone else. Some years later, John goes to visit her but Savannah is already married. John asks Savannah why she did not even call him and she says it was because just hearing his voice would make her change her mind and she felt she had to marry Tim, his husband, because he was ill.

When John goes back in the army he receives a letter from Savannah telling him that Tim died. In the end of the letter she had written "I'll see you soon, then."

Finally they see each other again in a coffee shop. The films finish with both of them hugging.

I think that this film is very emotional, I loved everything. In my opinion the characters were chosen perfectly and all the landscape was lovely. The best phrase in the story is “see you soon, then” because it says that they in the future will see each other again. I really recommend you this film, I’m sure that you will enjoy it. 

The Greatest Day

When I went to Manchester everybody knew Take That. I listen to this group all day: in the radio, in the shops, in the supermarkets, on TV… I asked for them and the people that I met were surprised because I didn’t kwon the most famous  group in England.  They told me that Take That are a British pop group composted of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams. When I arrived at home I looked for their songs and now I really like them. My favorite is The Greatest day, I like how it sounds and the lyrics. This song talks about that every day could be the greatest day of our lives so we have to enjoy every single day.

Nowadays there aren’t many rebel songs so it was difficult to find one because the majority of them talks about love or lack of affection. Finally I found “Where is the love?” by Black eyed peas and it describes how the world is today. I like this song because it talks about how cruel this society really is and the moral of the song is that we need to love each other despite all.

This world we live in is corrupt, demanding (Exigent)* and is full of hate. No one cares about the people who live in this world they only care about themselves.

I recommend you to listen to this song because some people need to understand what this world has come to and what we need to change. And it demonstrates that without love, you cannot make peace, and it will only lead you to war.

Oral Presentation

Marina and I talked to you about the Tukanas tribe. We decided this topic because is another way to explain the pas from childhood to adulthood which we thing that is the most important and difficult.

Presentation: In my opinion we made a good presentation. It was structured and it wasn’t too complicated so all the audience could follow without any problem. We showed you different photos, not too many but I think there were enough. Like some classmates we used the Prezzi to do our presentation. We chose this program because we think that it’s very clear and pretty.

Body language and eye contact: I think that I have to improve my body language because maybe the others can understand me better. During the presentation I didn’t read my paper but I didn’t look at all the audience. So the next one I will try not to be nervous to improve my body language and eye contact.

Structure: The structure of our presentation as I said before it was clear and you can follow all the different parts of our project.

Content: I think that we explained you a lot of new information. We chose the pas from childhood to adulthood because all of us are in there, so it’s more interesting. In my opinion the content was very good because we had been looking for all the things that we talked to you and we think that we chose good information.

Language: We didn’t use very difficult words but as we were nervous we did some errors which we realized when we had finished our presentation.

Pronuntation: In my case I tried to pronounce as good as possible but I know that in the future I will be able to do it a lot better. I have to improve it.

Blind by love

Once upon a time, there was a blind girl who was living in London called Charlotte. Since she was a child, she was in a relationship with Tom. Charlotte was beautiful, clever, kind and very sweet.

She hadn’t any friends, only Tom, her boyfriend. He was very selfish and a bad person because he wanted to control Charlotte’s life and he didn’t want to share her. Also Tom was unfaithful to the blind girl and she didn’t realize the true because she was blind by love. They grew up together until she was forced by her parents (who knew how terrible her boyfriend was) to go to another city to study, New York.

There, she started a new life without him. Charlotte met some new friends and they always took care of her and they saw the girl like a normal person. One of these new friends was Alison, a cheerful, amusing and helpful girl. She was a very good support for Charlotte. Alison’s best friend was Harry, the 3 spent a lot of time together and the good felling between Charlotte and Harry began. One day, they were waiting for Alison to start the lessons, and they were talking like a couple. Then Harry took her hands for explain what were his feelings and he kissed her. She closed her eyes and when she opened them she could see.

Something magical happened and she was too excited. Harry couldn’t believe it. While they were kissing, they seemed so cute and adorable, they stayed together forever.

Charlotte's life teaches us that sometimes we don't accept the truth because nobody likes to be hurt, but if we want to improve our lives we have to begin again. Maybe, it will be the most important and difficult decision in our life, but it'll be the correct one. Try to be happy.

Alice

I suppose the first thing one notices about Alice is her graceful gait and hair that is short, spiky, and black. She has a lovely smile and she generally doesn’t wear much make-up. She’s not very tall, but she is quiet slim. She is bubbly and optimistic.

She loves going shopping, making-overs, and throwing parties. She always looks perfect. What I particularly like about her is the way she thinks carefully about what she says and always makes interesting, intelligent comments. Once you get to know her a little, you realize that she is not as carefree as she seems first time. Although she is adopted, she cares about her family a lot because for her they are the most important people that she has.

The most distinctive thing about her is her smile. She is actually a very cheerful person and she has a very optimistic view of the word.

Now, do you know who am I talking about?

A clue: her really name is Ashley Greene.

Zac Vawter will use 'bionic leg' controlled by his thoughts to climb Chicago skyscraper

It is amazing how science develops day-to-day. A good example is Zac Vawter’s case: a young man who lost his right leg in an accident and now helps to test a trailblazing prosthetic leg that is controlled by his thoughts.

Others artificial legs are passive and don’t respond to the electrical impulses caused by thought. That is the great innovation that looks like a science fiction movie.

A team of scientists have work a lot of time to arrive at this moment and now they can prove their effort, thanks to Vawter who, from the first day, was involved in this scientific research.

The ultimate test will be the heroic deed that consists to climb up 103 flights to the top of one skyscraper. What will be so complicate.

I’m surprised for the bravery and the effort that Vawter has and I think we have to learn one’s lesson: don’t give up because everything can change for the best.

 

 

 

A BOX in which parents can leave their babies anonymously without any legal risk has opened in a town in northwestern Russia - part of an effort that activists hope will save many young lives.

It’s a pity that our society needs that kind of things, but if we think that it is necessary, and it is, we have to do it! We are talking about a new invention that it consists in a box where parents can leave their babies anonymously without any legal risk.

Every year too many babies are abandoned from their parents and this box allows that, instead of leaving the babies in the street or inside a box in the middle of the rubbish, they can leave the child in a box that its door closes and a nurse gets alerted by a signal. Given that there are no security cameras, parents can leave their babies anonymously.

Some people think that it infringes on the right of mothers and children but I thing that box will save a lot of babies.

 

MATILDA Ballinger is more comfortable studying in a cabin than a classroom.

Matilda, her family and her unusual lifestyle are difficult to understand for the majority of people, but it is very respectable.

In this case, Matilda and her brothers, have done their studies like other young people. But the difference is that they have are traveling around the word at the same time that they are studying. They love sailing so I think they enjoy they lives, but I wouldn’t like to do it because I need my friends around me. I’m sure that it is not exactly the same living one day have  and another  day in another place buit on the other hand they are meeting different cultures which in my opinion it is an incredible experience which they will never forget.

She thinks that normal life is boring, I don’t agree because I have a normal live and I’m not bored. But is her opinion and not everyone has to think the same.

In the future I would like to sail around the word, it’s one of my dreams but not for a long time, just for month

 

Thirteen & Adrian Mole

This term we had to read Adrian Mole is book and watch the film Thirteen. Both show us that the pas from childhood to adulthood isn’t easy.

The two main characters have problems like eating disorders, drugs, sex, petty crime, bad influences, addictions, popularity, divorce, adolescent relationship with parents…

A is normal to have some problems with your identity and your family in the adolescence but if you have an unstructured family like Adrian or Tracy it is more complicated because in their case, their families don’t show them how much they love them.

In the adolescence most of us change but Tracy has a radical change, she seems another person. This change happened because she was so influenced by others, exactly by Eve. When she met Eve she thought that everything will be better but finally it wasn’t like she has thought. Yes, she was popular but at what price?

Instead, Adrian isn’t especially popular. He is a good boy, he help an old men, Bert and he cares for his parents when they don’t feel well. But he had a problem, Barry. This guy beat him to get money. Lucky his grandmother went to see Barry and told him to stop hitting Adrian. He always had his heard in the clouds because he thought all the time about Pandora. His friend, Nigel, fail him because he had a relationship with Pan. But after Adrian forgave him.

After seeing and reading both we realize how important our friends and family are. We need to be able to differentiate who are our real friends, those who stand by in any situation.

 

Sweet16!

Few days ago it was my birthday and I had my sweet16 day.

I’ve been waiting for that day during all the year.  I wished to be sixteen like all my friends because I am the youngest just for a few months.

I was born on the thirteenth and by chance this year I celebrate my birthday on Tuesday thirteenth, the day of bad luck for the some Spanish people. But for me it wasn’t a bad day. That day I had the English oral presentation and I was very nervous although in the morning I was worried, it was a great day.

After school we went to buy some ingredients to make a cake then we went to a friend’s house and all of us made a chocolate cake together. If I am honest, the cake looked like it had been made by a professional cook.

I am very grateful for all the gifts that my friends and my family gave to me. The thing that I really liked most were the notes that my best friends wrote to me, they are so lovely. Thank you so much!

My sweet 16 wasn’t a big celebration like in North America but it was so fine because I spent “my day” with the most important people for me in these moments.

Admirable

Like her, there are many celebrities who have given donations to countries or poor people’s associations. I think that their decisions are so good because they can afford to give a part of their money to help other people without resources. They do it with their best of intentions.

Earlier this year, Miley Cyrus traveled to Haiti with the Starkey Hearing Foundation in order to deliver much-needed supplies to deaf children. Her goal was to help the organization distribute and fit hearing aids to more than 400 Haitians.

However, that is not all. On July 24, Miley performed at Starkey Hearing Foundations’s 11th annual ‘So the World May Hear Gala’ in St. Paul, Minnesota. Impressively, the event raised $7.2 million that will go toward helping the Haitian victims.

In my opinion she had an excellent idea which she could safe and improve the lives of many children. So I think this determination is admirable.

Yes, but it’s so far and you have to go there by bus or car. I can take you there.

Of course, I have to go to train station too. But before I need to go to the supermarket to get some food.

Dear Sonia

This year is the first that you are my English teacher because last year it was Lourdes. My name is Tura Puig and I live in Empuriabrava. I like listening to music, meeting my friends and rowing.

I have always lived in Empuriabrava and when I was three years old I started school in Castelló d’Empúries. I’m lucky because most of my friends got to the same high school as me.

At school this year I have chosen some new subjects: economy, business, maths and history. I don’t know which career I want to study but I’m sure that I would like to go to university.

I love rowing, it’s my favorite sport. I practice it with my friends Marina and Lidia who go to the same English class as me.

Anyway during the course of the year I will tell you more things about me. See you on Monday.

FINAL POST

In this post I have to choose my best post in 4th ESO and the best blog in our class. For me my the best post is about the wishes,  make wish. I wrote this writing some months ago. It isn’t the post most long but I think that the vocabulary is more difficult than the others. I think the content is good and I use also some difficult words, for example fulfill and pursue. I was doing this text during a long time because I didn’t know what talk about but finally I decided to risk with that post. I love the photo that I put in the blog because it’s in a gift picture and it’s too honey.

The best blog in my opinion is from Agustina. I love the sentence that she puts in the titol “free as a bird”. She writes very well and she selects perfectly well the pictures. Her posts are interesting and entertaining.

Friendship

Every person has different ideas for the perfect friendship, but I suppose that everybody wants to have a real friend. Is important to have a special friend who set his shoulder when you cry and he tells you all that he things. A good friendship for me is when that person shares with you the best and the worse moments, “when we are called to help our friends in need” because cause that is what friends are supposed to do. My friends are very important in my life and I need them. Every day I will remind them how much they really mean to me.

Experiences in Italy

We went to Italy for five days and we had a lot of experiences. We visited Pisa, Firenze, Siena and Roma. The most beautiful city for me was Firenze. Every day we ate the same: pasta or pizza and ice cream, but it taste good. We had one restaurant only for us because we were too much people. One night when we had dinner we saw the Barça's match it was funny. 

Each day we visited a different city and we always got lost because we didn’t know where were, and we had to ask people on the street for help us. We laughed a lot.

We spent a good time there, I would like to go back. I never forget this  trip.

BOOK VS FILM

On the second term, we read Romeo and Juliet’s book and then we watched Romeo and Juliet’s film. There are some differences between the book and the film. There are two important differences: the time when the story happens (in the book happens in Middle Ages and in the film in Contemporary Ages) and the place where the action happens (in the book happens in the old Verona city and in the film in Verona Beach, America). Also there are more differences: the language in the book is in verse and in the film the language is in actual English, in the book they fought with swords but in the film with pistols, in the film there are modern technologies (pistols, cars…), the prince of Verona in the film is a policeman, in the films’ party they wear customs without masks, in the film Tybalt didn't kill Mercutio with a sword and either Romeo killed himself with a pistol. Some scenes don’t appear in the book like when Romeo and Juliet fall into the swimming pool in the Capulet’s garden.

I liked seeing the movie after read the book to understand better the history.

Description podcast

I selected this picture because it makes me happy. This photo was taken last year in the bedrooms’ camping. My friends and I went to the camping with our parents. We spent three days there and this summer I guess to go again. In the background we can see the showers and in the foreground there are Irene, Berta, Ona, Paula, Maria, Marta and me. All of us are friends for 15 years ago except Marta. We met Marta in the camping and we had a good time with her.  This photo is colorful because all of us wear different contrasting colors. I love this picture.

A different day

Last weekend I spent two days witth Judith, one friend of mine. We had dinner in Torroella with some friends of her. We went to the restaurant at ten o'clock and we left at quater past eleven. After that we arrived in Serra. In Serra there was a local party with differnt groups of music: Acció Festiva, Diversiones... We danced all night and then we came back at Judith's house by taxi. I had a good time with them. I would like to repeat this experience.

Interview

Yesterday we went to figures to do our project. This project consist of asking tourist people some questions for practicing our English. My group interviewed three different people. One of them told us that:

She comes from Russia. She visits Catalonia for the second time. She doesn’t visit another place in Spain, only Catalonia. She is on holidays here for five days. She's staying in a hotel in Barcelona and she is having a good time. She went to the Dalí museum some years ago and now she is going to visit it again. She likes Spanish/Catalan food and she thinks that Spanish and Catalan people are friendly. She would like to come back again.

We can’t put any images because the tourists who we interviewed didn't want to be photographed. So we recorded their voice but finally we had a problem with the mobile, and now we can’t put the voice recorded in our blog.

This experience was great because we can speak and improve our English. I think that going to figueres to talk with tourist is a good idea for the students.  

Tattoos

There are many types of tattoos but I don’t like all of them. I just like the small and unobtrusive ones. The tattoos for me are very personal so they ought to have a meaning for the person who wears them. You should remember that tattoos are forever. I like small tattoos behind the neck and the tattoos on the ankle.

In the future, I would like to have  a small one behind the neck.

Pretty Little Liars

The serie talks about the lives of four girls -Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Aria Montgomery, and Emily Fields- when their leader, Alison DiLaurentis, disappears. Three years later, when Alison's body is found, they begin receiving messages from someone using the alias "A" who expose their secrets.

Spencer Hastings is my favorite character. She is a competitive girl who strives for perfection in everything she does. Spencer and Toby are in love but “A” forbidden Spencer to see Toby. If she talks to him, “A” will hurt him so Spencer has to lie. She talks with Toby and she says him that she doesn't love him.
